Thursday's for Others

An amazing opportunity to stand alongside various organizations helping those in need, Thursday's for others is a "sampler" of various NGO's (non-government-organizations) around the Manila area, supported by Union Church of Manila. All are welcome! You need not be a member to join us weekly for hands-on/on site community service activities on Thursday mornings. No skills necessary just an open heart. Organizations visited include orphanages, children's homes and drop in centers for street children, TB and AIDS outreach programs, a women's prison, preschools and feeding program, etc. Come every Thursday or choose one with which to volunteer on a regular basis. Thursdays 8:30 am-Noons.

January 17 - Deliver boxes to Habitat for Humanity (Baseco), YWAM (Tondo) and Kanlungan Sa Erma (Malate). This week will be strictly a deliver week and a lot of driving. I don't mean to discourage anyone from coming, but I just want to be up front about what will be happening on this Thursday. If you haven't visited any of these sights you can at least hop out of the van and take a quick tour or speak with the organizers to find out what these places are about.

January 24 - Deliver boxes to Bright Lights (school in Cainta, Rizal) and Resources for the Blind (Cubao). Again, this will be a delivery run, but we may have a little more time to visit and/or tour the facilities if anyone is interested.

January 31 - Delivering boxes to House of Refuge in Marikina. This is a home for orphaned boys and girls. Beautifully run and the kids are given so many opportunities. This week we will have time to do an activity with some of the younger ones who are not in school so come ready to have some fun!

I will keep you updated as we make our schedule through May. As usual, we will be meeting at the church and leaving promptly at 8:30am. Please give a text to 0917.801.7274 if you are running a little late, so we can wait for you.

Don't forget Drop In Center from 11:30-2pm in the UCM sala. A light lunch and some hearty conversation is provided.
