One of the advantages of living overseas is the chance to explore your host country as well as travel to nearby destinations that may never have been on your radar screen. If you are like me, you came to the Philippines with a list of things to do and places to go and you've found that the list gets longer as you hear of other's experiences and learn about adventures you never thought would be available to you. If you are also like me, you may find that navigating the logistics and processes for exploring and travel may be intimidating as a newcomer. Even if you're comfortable traveling on your own you may be thinking it would be nice to have others along to share the experience.
In order to help members check off the items on their "to do" list and meet others who share similar interests, the AWCP Tour Committee organizes many group tours each year. Some are one-day or overnight excursions to nearby places of historical or cultural significance and to destinations that are just for the fun of it. Others are weekend and multi-day trips to destinations within the Philippines to explore the diversity of its regions and richness of its 7,107 islands. As for international travel, the Philippines is also centrally located and within easy reach of many major Asian destinations. Short flight times enable the Tours Committee to organize excursions to a variety of exotic and exciting places.
On this site you will find details of upcoming tours as well as reviews and photos from some of the tours that have already taken place. Be sure to watch your email for announcements of future tours so you don't miss out on the fun. Signing up for AWCP tours and trips is a great way to make the most of your time here in the Philippines. But why wait for someone else to organize a tour you'd like to join? Become an active participant by volunteering for the Tours Committee and be part of the planning and organizing. Its fun and easy and a great way to involve yourself in the AWCP while making new friends. For information on how you can get involved please contact the Tours Committee at tours@awcphilippines.org.

Reboard coach, depart to Forestry Research Institue of Malaysia (FRIM). FRIM offers all walks of life a back-to-nature experience whilst enjoying the flora, fauna, landscapes and the remains of an old Orang Asli settlement. A waterfall and river cutting through this forest reserve adds serenity to this luxuriant landscape. The main highlight in FRIM is the Canopy Walk. The canopy walkway was built in 1992 on the hillside and spans for about 200 meters. The entire walkway consists of 4 bridges suspended from tree to tree by an elaborate array of ropes. The walkways are just planks hardly a foot wide placed on aluminium ladders supported by the ropes. These 4 bridges are connected by 3 platforms as high as 30 meters from the ground. A word of caution, be prepared! Mentally and physically. The hike up the canopy walk may be streneous to many; it is an uphill hike most of the way.
Things to bring:- Bottled water and dress appropriately; light cool clothing is recommended as it gets very hot and humid in the jungle, and good walking shoes or hiking boots and mosquito repellant is a definite must.
Lunch at local restaurant After lunch, explore historic Kuala Lumpur on a guided walking tour that travels from Merdeka Square to Chinatown. Your walk begins at Merdeka Square near the Selangor Club and leads into Chinatown with its intriguing blend of pre- and post-war shops and side street stalls. During your tour, visit Kuala Lumpur’s oldest Hindu and Chinese shrines; the Sri Mariamman (1873) and Sze Ya (1883) temples along with the Jamek Mosque. Continue on to the newly restored Central Market, now home to vendors of Malaysian arts and crafts. Spend some free time browsing and shopping before returning to hotel.
